Fired Up at Jac’s, Aberdare

On the twenty first of June, The Origin of Machines returned to the brilliant Jac’s for their fourth gig.

They shared the bill with an eclectic mix of talented artists - Robyn Benge, Red Joker, Ssick and The Serene Scene.

It was great to entertain the appreciative and enthusiastic audience who came from miles around to see the band. It was great to see some new faces too, including a man who came dressed as a monk.

Our newest song, Concrete Frog was premiered at the gig. The song is about a woman who killed her husband by bashing him with a concrete frog (more about the murder in the blog) so it only seemed right that the band invested in their own concrete frog for Pixie to bash her imaginary husband with. This might explain the lack of dancing near the stage. It could also explain why Pixie isn’t married! Speaking of dancing, if there was a prize for the best dancer (maybe something to think about in the future), it would have gone to Robyn Benge who rocked the night away with our giant spider, Bonnie.

As usual, the plasticine competition was popular and the winner was Bobby and her collection of farmyard animals. She won a stress ball in the shape of a boob. Don’t say we don’t look after our fans.

On the night, organiser Joshua Bines raised £242 for the Firefighters’ Benevolent Fund.

We’d like to thank Joshua for organising the gig, Jordan for providing the sound, Jac’s for hosting, Ben “Scamper Tron” for taking some wicked photographs and all the music lovers who attended.
